New TRAINING SCHEME FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISE IN LEEDS

16/08/2010

Leeds-based consultancy Ohm Management have released a new programme of training and coaching, specifically aimed at local voluntary sector organisations and small and start-up businesses and social enterprises.

Charley Downey, Director of Ohm Management, said: "Social enterprise and the voluntary sector have much in common, but one of the key elements that bind them together is the need for voluntary sector pioneers and social entrepreneurs to have an awful lot of ‘hats'! The revenue is rarely available to hire someone to do everything and, while many social entrepreneurs have a wide and comprehensive skill-set, no one person has the ability to do everything.

In addition, most training on key areas like marketing assumes there is a reasonable budget to spend, but there's no point learning about writing a killer advert if you can't afford to place it. We're looking at successful marketing on a shoestring. Also, social enterprise is about more than making money. Our training on credit control is about making sure you get paid while staying true to your principles, not about ‘sending the boys around'!"

The programme will be hosted at Voluntary Action Leeds in September, and places start at just £29 per session. To find out more about the courses, or book a place, visit www.ohmmanagement.co.uk or call 07952 231105.
