New QCF NVQs - ILM management qualifications available from 1 August 2010
19/03/2010
Four new and improved ILM management NVQs will be available on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) from 1 August 2010.
- ILM Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Team Leading (17 credits)
- ILM Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Management (25 credits)
- ILM Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management (38 credits)
- ILM Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Management (45 credits).
These new qualifications will replace our existing leadership and management NVQs, which expire with the withdrawal of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in December 2010.
Withdrawal of NQF NVQsILM Centres can still register candidates onto the outgoing NVQs until 31 December 2010, with a certification end date of 31 December 2013. However, funding for the NQF NVQs may be withdrawn earlier than December 2010.
Benefits of ILM management NVQs
More flexibility for you and your customers -
Drawing from a pool of over 70 units, ILM's new management NVQs offer a
wider range of learning from optional units as well as new and imported
units that capture the latest developments in leadership and management
practice.
Smaller, funding-friendly qualifications - with smaller units, these streamlined qualifications are designed to fit more closely with the apprenticeship frameworks, and are therefore optimised for funded delivery. The new management NVQ will form the core of the ILM Dual Award and ILM Management Apprenticeships, offering centres a choice of funding friendly products.
Straightforward transition for ILM customers - for all their extra flexibility and choice, the new ILM management NVQs are broadly comparable to ILM's outgoing leadership and management NQF NVQs at Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5. The new qualifications will retain their focus on developing and recognising competency, but with a greater emphasis on the underpinning knowledge and theory that links behaviours to skills, through 27 new units and 3 new subject areas.
Further specialist NVQs coming soon - replacement products for our full NVQ portfolio are anticipated throughout 2010/11 including specialist qualifications for enterprise, volunteer management and environmental management.
Expert support and advice - as the first Awarding Body to launch a full portfolio of Leadership and Management VRQs on the QCF in September 2008, ILM has unrivalled experience of the new framework. We will support your straightforward transition onto these new ILM management NVQs with timely support and advice.
For further information, download a list of the new ILM management NVQ units, together with the rules of combination which outline the new qualification structures.
Qualification Specifications for ILMs new management NVQs will be available in April, and we will email these to you as soon as they are finalised.
