THE IAM LAUNCH NEW QCF QUALIFICATIONS IN BUSINESS AND ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT

21/03/2011

The IAM (Institute of Administrative Management) announced today that it expects a new influx of students as registrations open for their new level 4 and 5 diplomas in Business and Administrative Management.

The new qualifications are designed for those who work in or aspire to management positions in businesses or in the public sector. Holders of the level 4 and 5 Diplomas in Business and Administrative Management will find that these professional qualifications constitute an educational pathway which is parallel with university education and from which, at each level; students may progress to university degree programmes. As such, the IAM have designed the new qualifications as a ‘stepping stone' to university.

A combination of mandatory and optional units offers learners flexibility to study subjects that are of interest to them. The courses can be studied full time or part time. Students are assessed by formal examinations, assessments and portfolios. The qualifications are accredited by the qualification Regulatory Authorities.

IAM Chief Executive Jenny Hewell said: "The qualifications have been developed based on extensive research and feedback from employers, higher education and from our tutors and students from around the world. They, and the level 6 qualifications which we will launch in the very near future, provide the basis for a sound and consistent education for all those who aspire to managerial positions."

With a focus on the analysis of contemporary business models and the practical application of theories in real business contexts, the new qualifications nurture a holistic view on business, together with the necessary analytical and evaluative skills. Units cover a wide range of topics such as operations, human resource management, knowledge management, personal development, facilities, finance, accounting, marketing, event management and more.

Applications from students on the present NQF Diploma and Advanced Diploma to transfer to the new QCF qualifications can now be submitted to the IAM. Transfer requests can be administered in education centres, or submitted directly to the IAM.
