Strength, positivity and innovation are key to surviving the recession

A new report from the Institute of Leadership & Management, providing a candid insight into the minds of CEOs, has warned that businesses will not survive the recession if they allow negativity and pessimism to seep into their managerial mindsets.

Delivering in the Downturn, based on in-depth interviews with over 50 CEOs from small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), reveals the critical characteristics, skills and knowledge that today's managers need in order to help their organisations survive the recession.

Set against the gloomy economic backdrop, these business leaders are remarkably confident about the future, with over 80% expressing optimism about their business prospects. This sense of optimism extends to their view of the current climate as an environment in which there are still opportunities to be exploited, providing that their managers have the appropriate characteristics, skills and knowledge.
