ILM welcomes NICE guidance on mental health in the workplace

Penny de Valk, Chief Executive of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), has welcomed the latest National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance on mental health and wellbeing in the workplace:
"We welcome the recommendations made today by NICE. Mental health and wellbeing is a serious issue for employers and, as this analysis shows, UK organisations are currently not well equipped to deal with it.
"The workplace culture of long hours and presenteeism is outmoded and needs to change. Modern technology now allows employees to work more flexibly and managers who fail to embrace this risk being left behind. This is an issue that must be tackled from the top down, it is essential that managers come to terms with the impact of stress, depression and mental health on employees.
