ILM launch enterprise qualifications for Enterprise Week
12/11/2007The Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) is supporting Enterprise Week 2007 with the launch of a specialist range of unit based enterprise qualifications.
Penny de Valk, Chief Executive, ILM said:
"ILM believe whole heartedly that the leaders of tomorrow must be enterprise minded to succeed. To this end I am glad to confirm ILM's support of the Make Your Mark Campaign and the Enterprise Culture Prospectus."
‘Exploring Business Enterprise', ‘Preparing for Business Enterprise' and ‘Starting Your Enterprise' are practical enterprise qualifications at levels 2 and 3 on the NQF, which are available nationwide in order to boost the enterprise skills of the UK.
The qualifications have been devised by ILM in response to requests from the government for school, college and university leavers to have a better understanding of what enterprise entails. Providing clear information of what needs to be considered when launching or looking to work within an enterprise, ILM's enterprise qualifications are designed to give individuals the opportunity to explore the purpose, functions and operations of a successful enterprise.
David Pardey, Senior Manager, Policy and Research at ILM said:
"If you're interested in the idea of setting up or working in an enterprise but not completely sure about what it will require in terms of your time and skills, taking an easy to access ILM qualification such as Preparing for Enterprise will ensure that you can assess your own readiness for the role and help you develop the knowledge and skills required to succeed."
For those who are planning to launch their own business, the ILM Level 3 Award or Certificate in ‘Starting Your Enterprise' enables learners to prepare effectively for the next step of actually getting their idea off the ground.
The content of ILM's enterprise qualifications has been structured into small, bite-sized units which cover the core ‘need to know' areas such as, researching the business market and writing a business plan.
There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be seriously considering starting their own business/enterprise, and have a business/enterprise idea on which to base their development. The assessments are very practical e.g. producing an outline business plan that will support applications for funding and enable the business to grow from a sound foundation.
All learners also gain free studying membership of ILM for one year. Designed to help participants get the most from their course and advance their business career, studying membership gives access to a wide range of specialist support and development materials and services.
