IITT Learning Provider Accreditation breaks Thousand Barrier with Nationwide Building Society
11/07/2011
~ Institute Chairman points to ‘tangible benefits' as the Nationwide Building Society becomes the one-thousandth organisation to achieve IITT Learning Provider Accreditation ~
The IITT, the membership body for learning professionals, first launched the accreditation programme in 1995 with the aim of raising the standard of training within both training companies and training departments.
For Nationwide Building Society, Training Portfolio Manager, Bryan Sampson, being named as the thousandth company to achieve IITT accreditation came as quite a surprise. Reflecting on his experience of the programme, he said: "What the IITT offer is more than an opportunity to simply improve the internal workings of your learning methodology, it is an end to end service that supports and guides continuous adaptation. This renewed focus on business need is mirrored in the heart of our training processes, which is already paying dividends with stakeholders. Our relationship with the IITT is setting the foundation for a productive partnership."
IITT Chairman, Donald H Taylor attributed the success of the programme to its ability to provide tangible benefits and believes that this is what drives organisations to become accredited with the IITT. He said: "The performance through learning process which leads to IITT accreditation is more than a quality mark. The programme enables organisations engaged in learning to measure, benchmark and improve. These three basic principles set the foundations for the programme and with data gathered from a thousand organisations there's no one more qualified than the IITT to measure learning performance, benchmark similar organisations and deliver significant performance improvement."
Since its inception in 1995 some of the world's most prominent organisations have achieved IITT accreditation, including Boots, BUPA, Lloyds of London and the Open University.

Notes to Editors:
The IITT is a self-governing, not-for-profit professional body for training professionals. It was established in 1995 and since then has grown on an annual basis. In February 2010 the Institute completed a management buyout from membership and research organisation, the National Computing Centre and is now a self-governing body.
Today, the organisation has circa 3,500 individual members and 400 accredited corporate members.
Through a range of membership, certification,
accreditation, events and bespoke consultancy services, the Institute focuses
on enhancing and recognising the skills and professional status of individuals
and organisations engaged in training activities, and assessing the quality of
training services.
