How to explore new markets -
‘Turning Point' seminar on International Business Development
Over a
hundred senior managers and business owners from Cambridgeshire attended the
first Turning Point seminar Developing a
competitive edge. Academic speaker Robert Jones left delegates with some
thought-provoking messages, encouraging businesses to really understand their
business strengths and ‘stick with your knitting!' His advice was to build new
business using core competencies, doing more of what a business does well. This
point was illustrated by Grahame Nix, Chief Operating Officer at Marshall
Aerospace. Grahame said ‘Marshalls Group's success has been built on the
fundamental strengths of the company and our innovative world leading skills in
design and technology. I encourage companies to grasp opportunities and
dedicate time and resource to taking new ideas forward'.
For those businesses ready to grasp new opportunities in International markets but perhaps not sure where to start, the
next seminar Turning Point seminar on Wednesday 4
November is about Pushing
Back Boundaries,
highlighting the benefits and issues associated with international business
development. Chris Parkhouse, MD of Cambridge
based business development experts Deyton Bell will once again Chair the
seminar, and this time joining Chris will be Professor
Terry Mughan, Professor
of International Management and Marcus Deeley, Deputy Director of UKTI in the
East of England. UKTI is the government agency that helps UK based
companies to internationalise. UKTI provide business opportunities, expert
trade advice and support to companies wishing to grow their business overseas.
