Chubb university
17/10/2011
A leading provider of security and fire protection services has created its own university to unlock the potential of its future leaders.
Chubb has established a university to develop the talent of its managers and to enable them to graduate with an internationally-recognised degree.
Its first 100 managers from all over the UK are spending the next 12 months on a leadership development programme before having the opportunity to study towards a two-year foundation degree in Leadership.
The programme is being delivered by leadership and organisational development specialist Acua, with accreditation awarded by its partner Coventry University.
The Chubb university is being co-ordinated from Chubb's learning and development department based in Blackburn.
David Millett, head of learning and development at Chubb,
said: "Chubb is serious about growing its business and being the number one
provider of fire and security solutions in the UK and, in doing so, investing
in the development of its people.
"The leadership development programme underlines Chubb's
commitment to providing high-quality accredited training for its workforce,
which already includes our successful apprenticeship scheme and employee
scholarship programme."
This latest programme is designed to support managers in
developing themselves and their teams to further excel in the business and in
the delivery of customer service.
It is aimed at improving efficiency, performance and the ability to respond to change in the business, and will reinforce Chubb's position as an industry leader in providing high-quality accredited training.
Acua has provided a tailored, flexible, accessible and
accredited programme with one-to-one coaching being delivered at Chubb's five
regional centres within the UK.
Chubb is the latest high-profile organisation to be
working with Acua, which was established by Coventry University in 2008 to meet
an identified skills shortage within the UK to drive business growth and
improve performance.
Vicki Nee, senior business development manager at Acua,
who will be involved in the delivery of the programme, said: "We are delighted
to be working in partnership with Chubb to transform its managers into its next
generation of leaders through its university.
"What makes Acua unique is that we can completely tailor
the learning to the business needs and, as more of Chubb's employees join the
expanding programme, we can continue to develop the right talent, in the right
way for the organisation."
