Aurion Learning celebrates success in e-Government National Awards 2010
02/02/2011
Belfast
based e-learning company Aurion Learning was celebrating in the London
Guildhall last week as one of their projects EalingHELP was
awarded a prestigious e-Government National Award 2010.
EalingHELP was winner of the ‘Building a fairer society with e-Government
services' award. This well-deserved accolade was presented to EalingHELP in
recognition of its commitment to using ICT and e-government services to improve
social inclusion or improve lives and communities.
EalingHELP is a website specifically designed to help parents and carers of children with disabilities in the London Ealing borough. It acts as a single point of information, providing improved access to support services, referral, assessment and appropriate help. EalingHELP also provides a forum that allows parents/carers of children with disabilities to share their knowledge, experiences and ideas, and seek advice from each other. This creates both a support network and community of learning for parents and carers. EalingHELP was commissioned by Ealing Mencap and Ealing Service for Children with Additional Needs (ESCAN) and designed and built by Aurion Learning.
Speaking about the award, Nick Radclyffe
from EalingHELP said,
"We're delighted to accept this high profile
award on behalf of EalingHELP. From the very outset our vision has been to
support the parents, carers and families of children with disabilities in the
Ealing borough by providing them with easy access to all the information they
need. We're lucky to be able to count on the continued support of ESCAN in
providing information about their services.
One of the recurring themes of last night's event was the need for continued investment in ICT projects. Thanks to funding from Aiming High, we're currently working with Aurion Learning to redevelop the EalingHELP website to make it even better. As well as giving the site a facelift, we'll be using the latest technology to streamline functionality and make it easier for users to share their knowledge and experiences through the discussion forums and blogs."
Dan Devlin, Business Development Manager from Aurion Learning said: "We're very proud that EalingHELP has got the recognition it deserves through receiving this very high profile award. Aurion Learning has a strong tradition of working with third sector clients across the UK and Ireland to deliver award winning, innovative learning solutions that really can improve people's lives."
The e-Government National Awards is the
UK's most closely watched public sector technology awards event and celebrates IT innovation across national and local government
agencies, the NHS and the third sector organisations.
Attended by the country's top public sector technology experts, leading civil
servants and government ministers, the highlight of the evening was a
video address from Prime Minister David Cameron. "We want government to be more
agile, more transparent, more open and accountable. That's the kind of
transformation this government is about. And we're looking to you to help us
achieve it.
Tonight's awards show clearly why you have put Britain at the forefront of e-government delivery in the world. We have the technology and skills, we have the innovation and crucially we have the people."
