Anglia Ruskin secures investment to help businesses and individuals through the recession

13/5/2009

Anglia Ruskin University is one of more than 70 universities and colleges set to receive a share of £27m in Government funding to offer real help to individuals and businesses during the downturn.  The total value of the fund is over £50m with the remainder coming from match funding from the universities and local partners.

Professor Michael Thorne, Vice Chancellor, said: ‘Anglia Ruskin is honoured to have been chosen by the Higher Education Council for England (HEFCE) to provide support to our region's businesses and their employees in this challenging economic climate. We have a strong track record of working with businesses to help them grow and it is vital that we use our expertise and resources to help them survive and prosper during these difficult times.'

‘Our programme is designed with the needs of small and large businesses in mind and provides them with practical support including access to tailored training, skills development and expert professional advice. We also have projects which will help individuals who are affected by the recession, for example, by finding work placements for recent graduates and providing opportunities for re-training in skill shortage areas.'
