Anglia Ruskin helps to build a bridge to nursing

28/10/2009

Anglia Ruskin announce new fast track to a career in nursing for Health Care Assistants in Cambridgeshire and Essex

Anglia Ruskin University's Faculty of Health & Social Care has developed a study programme  to help people fast track nursing as a career.

The ‘Bridging' course works by the condensing the first year of nursing study into a shortened period of time.  The year's work is completed in just three-months of full time study which then enables candidates to meet the requirements for entry to the branch programme of nursing which follows in the second year of study.

It is open to Health Care Assistants (HCA) with a mix of theory and clinical practice.

These students, who will have an NVQ3 in Care, or equivalent, will be offered a shortened first year of study due to the practical experience they have gained during their NVQ studies and work as a HCA.  The three month bridging module helps to work on getting these students up to the academic standard expected on a Diploma of Health Education (DipHE) course.
