Description
Duration: Typically a 3 day module per weld code, but also dependant on ability and level of certification required. The course combines theory and practice covering all safety issues, equipment setup and material preparation. The majority of the course time is spent on practical welding and destructive testing of welds to test for conformity.
Any container or conduit of compressible substances (e.g. steam, air, gas) requiring welded fabrication must be executed to a standard for insurance approval and approved codes of practice to \'Safety of Pressure Systems 1989\'.
These courses provide the competent MMA and TIG welder with advanced skills in order to meet the requirements of BS EN287-1/288, and ASME 9 coded pressure regulations. Pipe can be fixed (6G) or rotated position.
The above standards require welding procedure approval. These procedures can be third party, company in-house or established by the instructor for special applications.
Final testing is conducted by Zurich Laboratories and certification is valid for 2 years.
NB: test passes cannot be guaranteed by Fortec TA or the welding instructor
